Billy Goat

Lucky escape

Grandma's grandma (we think) did this in 1826, judging by the hammered glass in the frame, the glass and frame are probably original - at least in the opinion of the Royal College of Needlework.
On Sunday afternoon the support string broke and it fell six feet onto the stair rail - big dinge in the rail but amazingly the glass is intact.
Mind you it survived the Zeppelin raids in WW1 and the Blitz in WW2 so a little fall is no great shakes!

The words are great........

Behold the blushing rose
Her lovely tints display
The Queen of ev ry flower that blows
Beneath the eye of day

Good work Sarah Hedingham aged 10
