Coffee at Brucciani
When I was just a girl and used to go shopping in town with Mum she often took me to Bruccianis (yes it's been there that long). We'd have the nicest, milkiest coffee and Mum would have a cigarette.
The cafe was old fashioned, had noisy machines that made the milk frothy, played ancient music and had hundreds of pictures of people I didn't know on every wall. I never really understood why we went there - apart from that they made nice coffee.
Today it is vintagely old fashioned. has wonderful noisy machines that make the milk frothy, plays classic old tunes and the walls are still decorated by hundreds of stars of today but mostly yesteryear. In other words, it hasn't changed a jot. I however clearly have.
I asked Mum recently where she used to go to meet with friends when she was young. What was the 'wine bar' of her day. Her reply was coffee shops. With that, I understood why she took me as a girl and it was my pleasure to take her back.
We will return again - soon!
