In Between Days

Park

The sun came out! After a dull week we got some sunshine but I feel I didn't make the most of it. Dropped Alana off at Music Centre which she has started going to again. She was a bit nervous last week as she had basically had a term off but this week she was fine. I had Louis in tow and instead of going home we went to the park and took a walk down to the lake. Its a shame you can't hire a boat anymore. I've capsized in a canoe in this lake. It was then I found out, after a bit of splashing around, that it only came to my knees. L also found out once when Alana was small. Her pushchair rolled away into the lake and L had to jump in to retrieve it (I should point out Alana was not in it). I wasn't there but I got the impression that it wasn't a great experience.

In the afternoon Alana baked some butterfly buns all by herself. I turned the oven on and helped put them in but she did everything else. She even did her best at tidying up which we tell her is all part of it. If only she could cook tea for when we get in from work!

Spent a good part of the day trying to fix my PC which had a BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) on bootup. Was unable to get it fixed and then the worry of a failed hard drive set in (again) as I had not backed up my photos since the holiday to Turkey. In the end I put Ubuntu Linux on another disk and was able to copy my photos. I'm quite liking the Ubuntu experience. Still not fixed my XP boot problem so will have to decide weather to ditch it. The main thing is I can get any files I want to keep.

L was out in the evening. Another of her friends turning 40. They are planning on a 40th get together at.....wait for it.... Butlins! On top of that they are going in 80's fashion. Rather them than me! (actually Butlins isn't bad and I have many fond memories of going there as a kid. Its the 40 year olds in 80s fashion that is scary!)
