Pencil and Paper
I have not done any drawing or painting in about 19 years. I'm not sure why other then I got really busy and it seemed to just take time away from everything else there was to do. I lost interest in trying to make the time to do it. Then a couple of months ago I tried sketching the lake. I got pencils, paper and sat down to do it. Nothing happened. I didn't have the first clue how to even start! I put it all away and decided it wasn't for me anymore.
Today, I tried it again. I sat in front of the window to draw the lake but, again, I had no inspiration. Then, I decided to sketch a picture of my son-in-law holding his grandson (my great grandson) It's not very good. Bob's head is too small or Ben's is too big. It is messy, dirty and out of proportion. I used to be able to do so much better. But what this did for me was to show me that I can put pencil to paper - especially if it is something, or someone, I love and come up with something. And, maybe, now that I have discovered that again, I will get back in to it. Now I am excited and thinking about oil painting again! It has been a long dry spell! Wish me luck!
