Babydom

More to come on the blog and as ever your feedback is valued with thanks. I'm working on sharing some Aperture actions I've been making and my lilac toned French Lavender I've used on some of these images.

Stunning family in a gorgeous rustic location, this little love's mother's childhood home, the rusty old radio flyer wagon and tricycle gracing the lawn, the pool bouncing beautiful light back on us. How beautiful a day...

The definition for me of a beautiful image is one where I only wish I were in the image with my own children. Unless I feel that emotional attachment with the photograph, that pull on the heartstrings of love, I haven't succeeded in my vision for the collection of images. Today I captured about 600 of this gorgeous family on one side of Los Angeles County, only to race to capture another dear family on the other side of the county. It was a little race in the face of a fading autumn light. This was the first time I'd met little Remy and her family. But for two year old Henrik's family, it was a blessed reunion after I last met and photographed him aged 8 days. His mother Lisa was one of Reuben's primary nurses in the ICU and I felt honoured yet again to capture her family.

As I ponder the 1000 images from my sessions today, I felt I'd captured my vision.

I very rarely share client work here as it's about my journey with the boys, but this is a rare exception. They feel like some of my finest work.

Meanwhile, the boys had not a care in the world with their break from me, having fun at Disneyland!

Tomorrow Reuben gets a third opinion regarding his major neck surgery. And Callum starts preschool and I'm full of sentimentality. Where did his babydom go?
