an outing

back down towards durham today for a trip to thornton hall gardens. it's a super place, huge borders that will be filled with flowers for a long season, big clumps and swathes of things taking your eye across the view. there's also a huge hosta collection (plus ferns and heucheras) which we spent lots of time looking at and writing things down. and if you want an idea of the scale of the place, there's a duckpond in the second part big enough to have a rowing boat as a piece of sculpture on its beach, and neither boat -to-pond nor pond-to-garden scale is wrong. (in short, it's *huge*). the kind of place we go and steal ideas from, as well as buy plants and have a nice afternoon tea :-)

nice day spoiled by lack of contact - i suspected you wouldn't come and check on my place when you came thurs and did the 'i thought you were away' thing (no, going tonight, that's why i asked you to come over sunday, when i know you're working also). not only do you not say you didn't come, you didn't apologise for not coming. not only did you not apologise for not coming, you didn't even apologise when i called you out on it. ffs, either tell me you can't, tell me you couldn't, or tell her you can't, just for one day, and do something for me that you promised you would. getting bloody sick of this crap.
