Restored
The last time I was in the Hawksmoor Church in Spitalfields it was in a very sorry state - no floor, peeling walls, holes in the roof and home to many pigeons. It was saved from the brink by a £10million restoration project and looks magnificent. The whole area at the back of Liverpool Street Station has come up in the world and is now full of smart shops and cafes. We enjoyed our guided walk round the old Jewish quarter and a wander round Spitalfields market.
