Inner landscape
It was a cold grey day so I spent the day indoors. Upstairs whilst hoovering I looked at the painting on my wall and the broken vase.
The painting was given to my mother by her family when she left Norway in 1947 after marrying my father. It's quite dark and the painter is not well known (I cannot find any reference to him on the web).
The vase depicts an Near Eastern street scene. It was in my parents house for as long as I can remember. My sister and I broke it when we were young but I have always liked it and so when my parents died, I chose to keep it. My father was stationed in Palestine just after the war so he must have bought it.
