First Fishing of the Season

Tonight was my first fishing outing of the season, and a very successful one if I say so myself! 7 or 8 Rainbow Trout, all released fit and healthy, until someone else pulls them out when they least expect it!

I love what they call "dry fly" fishing, basically where you float a artificial fly on the waters surface (the dry part) and try and fool a trout into thinking its a real fly/bug. There quite a knack to it, one thats taken me years and years to learn!

One of the most useful techniques I use is when I see a trout "taking" my fly, I shout "ohyaweebugger" before I lift my rod to set the hook.....this give the fish just long enough to come up and start heading back down before I lift!

Any how...ive been meaning to take a shot similar to the above for a good while now, the piece of road its on is fast and there not anywhere to park but I took the time to walk up to it tonight on my way home.....im quite glad I did!

What you can see in the background is the start of the Scottish Highlands with Glasgow and some other small towns sitting in the valleys, its a view im quite proud of!
