PLEASE can I have some of your toffee apple Kirsty
Ha ha. This photo was taken with very sticky fingers so, as I was trying to keep my camera clean, it's not exactly the most imaginative one I've ever done. But it was SO funny because Pippin realised I was doing something at the cooker so got very interested and started following me around the place because she knows I'm not very good at preventing things like carrots from flying around the kitchen.
Anyway, it wasn't proper cooking I was doing, but making toffee apples. I'd never done it before and it was a bit of an experiment, but they turned out great! All thanks to Nigel Slater, whose recipe I followed. They look quite pretty too cos I used bits of magnolia tree for the sticks. And if you follow Pippin's eyes, you can see where the toffee apple was when I took the picture!
I was torn between posting this picture and one of the apples themselves, but I just so happened to notice that Pippin was at my feet while I was making a mess eating my one, and she had the most pleading look on her face ever. So, of course, it had to be her.
But I actually used some of the apples she collected during those high winds a few weeks ago and, I must say, they worked a treat! So, big thanks to you Pippin for your contribution. And, I suppose, as you helped out, you can have a bit of toffee!
