All life is on the water...
This is the second of my Venice backblips and the day of our long walk. We're not big on museums and churches but we do like being out and about and seeing what the locals get up to, and this is the city for doing that. I have 400+ views of Venice: The Rialto, St Mark's Square, the Grand Canal etc etc but I thought I would post everyday things which caught our eye. We spent some time on the Rialto Bridge watching the world go by on the streets to the side, in the restaurants but mainly on the water beneath as the GC is the Venice equivalent of a six lane motorway. The Venetians are extremely resourceful people , they have to be as everything has to be transported around and carried out from the water.
Whilst we stood on the Rialto, every manner of occupation passed beneath. At one point an ambulance boat sped by, blue lights flashing, and the ensuing wake caused havoc for the smaller boats and gondolas, then all returned to normal. Later a coffin bedecked with flowers went beneath the Bridge.
We had been in search of fruit along our walk and came across this fruit and veg boat down a side canal, brilliant!
