From Dawn to...

You shall have a Fishy...

I was working from home today, so I thought I would go have a look at our shiny new supermarket (the second one to open in Penrith in a week).

Booths is for the 'luxury' end of the market, I overheard a Booths employee saying to another 'we don't sell the value ranges, we sell quality' which I think about sums it up. I will not be shopping there for my weekly groceries, but I might for a special occasion.

I went to Sainsbury's at the weekend (our other new Supermarket) and as I am a skinflint, penniless student I took notice of the prices compared to Morrisons (the OTHER big supermarket in town, there is also Aldi, the Coop and Somerfield in town). I like Warburton's bread, which was £1.38 in Morrisons last Tuesday - the same loaf on Saturday in Sainsbury's was....£1.10 - and no, it was not on offer!

That is shocking! No, really. 28 pence difference for a loaf of bread? Maybe they do need some competition if that is the mark up!

Oh, the fish. Do you like him? The lovely lady told me his name is Martin the Monkfish and he was sitting on ice with his friend John Dory. I do not like raw meat; I prefer to think of it as being made in a factory in France rather than come from something live so this was like therapy for me to take this shot.
