Greening Spaces

Some days you take photos that are visually interesting. Other days they are emotionally engaging, personally.

Today I drove past this site, in fact I shot it a few months ago. It's been demolished like more than 500 places so far in Christchurch, with another 500 or so to go. And I saw these kids planting it, to make this demolition site more attractive.

Seriously, brought tears to my eyes, I turned around to take a photo. Waved and gave the thumbs up.

The earthquake hasn't been pretty. But I am impressed as hell that schools are helping foster the sense of community. It's a seriously important gift.
