Mornings (Day 7): Eating on the Cheap
My first morning in Hong Kong. I'm staying in the New Territory town of Sha Tin, home to the Chinese University of Hong Kong. I spent a summer here learning Cantonese. At any rate, the canteen (British/Hong Kong for cafeteria) on campus is home to a cheap meal. I enjoyed my first authentic "lai cha" (milk tea), and an egg sandwich. The Hong Kong style doesn't have a grill so it's just plain white bread, with the crusts cut off, and some scrambled eggs. Not bad in getting the day started. This is the view outside the canteen.
