The Duke

This is the Duke of Wellington (1769-1852) looming down from a 3 storey row of rather grand terrace houses in town. I've no idea of the connection with Harrogate, although I believe he was linked to a battalion in Yorkshire.

At the end of the row of houses there used to be a pub called The Duke so perhaps the connection was in commendation of some battle coinciding with the building the terrace.

Whatever, he seems to be well looked after and protected from the pigeons.
