Fisherman on papyrus tankwa boat
Stop in Bahar Dar on the southern shore of Lake Tana.
Lake Tana is the largest lake in Ethiopia and it is also the source of the Blue Nile.
The lake is also renowned for its monasteries which can be found directly on its shores, on peninsulas and on the many islands (37) scattered all over the lake.
Visit to Urakidanemereth monastery, under the thatched roof there are incredible colourful paintings of religious scenes and also a display of bibles written in Ge'ez, the religious language from which Amharic is derived.
And last but not least a quick encounter with a Hippo in the lake's waters. Just great, a shame the picture wasnt that good!
