Arbroath Smokies at Lanark

The Christmas market at Lanark is a bit of a highlight. I usually start the day by taking a walk down to New Lanark, and then up to the Falls of Clyde, where Corra Linn is absolutely beautiful at the moment.

That works up a good appetite for the market proper. One of the specialities is Spinks' Arbroath Smokies, prepared right out on the street. You can see them here before cooking, on the trestles. They are put into the barrels just behind for smoking. The finished fish is boned, wrapped and handed to you, hot and ready to eat - and some to take home. Bliss!
