First time on the beach

Today a group of Palestinian women where invited by Israeli women to join them for a day of cultural and personal exchange in a city close to the sea. For most Palestinian women it was the first time they saw the sea because they need special permits from the Israeli army to come to Israel.

It was an amazing day filled with laughter, joy and interest. The Israeli women took the Palestinian women to a museum, the beach and a kibbutz and they prepared tours and explanations with everything. The Palestinian women on the other hand brought instruments and food, to play traditional Palestinian music and share their traditional food.

Although there were heavy rains today that flooded the streets, the moment we got to the beach the sun came out for an hour. As one of the women said: even God wants us to be here.

I don't believe in God, but I do believe in the power of the communication between people, and today was an example of that.
