Poppies for Christmas?

I spotted some field poppies growing in amongst a crop of winter turnips about 6 weeks ago but was amazed when I passed the same field today to find that there are now dozens of them out and flowering away. If this mild weather continues, next year's poppy seeds will start to sprout!

I have had a very laid back day up to now but am expecting my two little grandsons and their Mum for dinner so things should liven up around here very soon! Their dad is still working in Caithness but he has heard that he will soon be getting a move to Inverness. Here's hoping he gets moved before Christmas.
