Amethyst crystal

A violet form of quartz, amethyst has always been prized as a beautiful gemstone and master healer. Coloured by iron, amethyst tends to form geodes of densley packed short crystals all pointing inwards towards the centre of the hollow. Colour varies from the very dark, (almost black) through purple to a delicate violet.
