Day2 43, 44, 45 and 46

Thursday 17th November:
We didn't get up to a lot this morning, it has been so busy the last few days that we slept in a bit and then watched tv for a while. In the afternoon we got ready and went out to look around some of the museums and things. We saw a museum with historical stuff and then animals in it, the one about the coelacanth (which is a prehistoric fish which they thought was extinct 65 million years ago and then someone caught one in the early 1900's and then they found a small population of them off the coasts of Africa.) and then we went to the observatory, which has a set of mirrors and stuff which means that you can see the whole of Grahamstown from there. Then this evening we went to a place called the Lowlander and had pizza, which was really good! Then we came back and went to bed.

Friday 18th November:
Will collected me at 6am this morning to go over to another reserve to dart Buffalo. The Buffalo were already in bomas so we didn't have to chase them around. Will taught me how to give subcut injections, so I was doing those and drawing up the sedative reversals for him. It was really good.
Then we went back to town and had to do a few jobs and then we went to the offices in town, which William shares with Peter Brothers (who my family and I met and worked with in 2006). I got to see him again with was nice. Stacey had got me something to eat and a drink, which was really sweet of her. We waited there while Will had a meeting with Peter and then we collected our stuff from Stacey's mums house and then headed back to our house. On the way back we stopped at Pumba again to dart some more lion, they were white lion this time, which was really cool. There were the male and female and then their two cubs. Unfortunately one of the cubs fell awkwardly when it went down and the mother wouldn't let us get near to it, so it wasn't breathing and unfortunately it died. It was really sad. It was decided to stop trying to move them when the other cub ran off and wouldn't let the landrovers get anywhere near it. So the male and female were given a check over and then woken up again. I got to give an injection to the male lion, which was cool.
When we got back to our house we had a message from some of the rangers saying they wanted to come and braai here tonight, So we showered quickly and sorted a few things out and then went over to the club to open up for them. It was good fun, but I was so tired that i only stayed until about 11.30 and then came to bed.

Saturday 19th November:
Today there was cricket at the club, so we had to go over at 9 and open up and sort things out from last night. The cricket went on for a lot longer than it usually does today and there were a lot of people around. Stacey and I sorted the lunch out for them and drinks. They didn't finish playing until about 5.30. Then there was a group come to the club to have a farewell party this evening, they started arriving at about 5. They all had small children though, so they had all left by about 9.30 and then the last couple of cricketers left as well. So it wasn't as late as we thought it might be.

Sunday 20th November:
Today has been more relaxed, we have had some things to sort out, but we have watched movies and chilled out a bit as well. After the busy week that we have had it has been nice.
