Fallen fungus
Today we took a trip over to Winkworth Arboretum, Godalming, Surrey.
Unfortunately the Met Office was wrong and the fog didn't lift around midday and there were no sunny spells, which is a pity as the arboretum is really lovely and my photos would have looked so much better witha bit of sunshine in them.
This toadstool tho, is just inside a tunnel made by badgers, so the sunshine wouldn't have made too much difference to this pic.
Winkworth was founded in 1937 by Dr Wilfrid Fox and is set in a wooded valley around 2 lakes. He planted Japanese, American and Norwegian Maples inbetween native species such as Willow, Oak, Ash and Alder along with Magnolias, Cherry, Witch Hazel, Hollies, Camelias, Rhodedenrons and Azeleas ... to name but a few.
We will definately try to go back again in spring - apparantly the display of bluebells is something to be seen.
On the way home I took a thousand shots of the dramatic sunset ( shoulda stayed in Wiltshire! ) but couldn't decide which one to blip so chose this fungus shot in exasperation!
Fingers crossed you can see the rest of the photos I took today here
