Surprise!

While wandering in the garden this morning, M and I spotted these gorgeous bulbs. They surprise us every year by popping up with no warning whatsoever and have mulitplied every year. Obviously one example of a plant you can fully ignore with great results.

When I went looking for what the bulb is, I think I identified it as a Colchicum, but I hope to be corrected if I have it wrong.

We had a windy, hot day here. The fig tree suffered a little but has perked right up after a drink :)
