Lobey Dosser

This is the Statue dedicated to a cartoon strip character Lobey Dosser. Also there are his two legged horse El Fideldo with his arch enemy Rank Bajin riding pillion.

It was erected by public subscription on May 1st 1992 in memory of Bud Neill the cartoonist, 1911-1970.

It has been Blipped several times although not by me.

The reason it caught my attention today was that a replica made an appearance at this year's Scottish Music Awards at the weekend.

The replica, which is actually a bit larger was an earlier prototype and was intended to be transported to California to the home of Maryhill millionaire businessman Jim Dunlop.

However it never made the journey and he has now donated it for auction to the Nordoff Robbins Charity. Nordoff Robbins is Scotland's largest specialist music therapy charity which needs to raise almost £400,000 a year to operate.
