K2

This is my current bedtime reading. I love mountains and am fascinated by the really big ones. I've trekked at altitude on mountains around half the height of K2 and even that's a challenge so I have huge respect and admiration for the 'real' high altitude climbers.

Where there are challenges there is inevitably danger and this book relates the true story about the life and death of members of several expeditions climbing the 2nd highest mountain in the world in 2008.
It's a moving story about ambition, triumph over adversity and human frailty (when compared to the awesome power of mother nature).
