Yellowjacket Ants

Like watching an ant hill. They hurry here. They hurry there. Working away in the glaring Winter sun.

Will they get everything built before the snow comes and stops work?

Or sometimes they could be worker bees scrabbling over their hive.

Busy beavers? Maybe that's enough animal kingdom metaphors.

The building behind the office was demolished and now a block of flats is going up.

Sometimes the activity is a bit hypnotic.

Real bricks. Real pipes, scaffolding, mortar. Real work.

Maybe I should push a particularly heavy set of papers from one side of my desk to the other to feel better?
