Stuck in a rut

Sometimes it's easier to take
The path most trodden
To stick to what you know
To not take risks
To play it safe
To follow
Rather than to lead.

Sometimes it's easier to say "Okay"
When you mean "No".
To not rock the boat
If it ain't broke
Don't try to fix it.
To stay the same
Afterall, it's worked in the past.

When is a good time to take that leap?
To jump into the unknown
Into the abyss?

When is a good time to scare yourself
Half to death?
To make that change?

When is it a good time to do
Those things you dreamed of
When you were young
And your life seemed like
A blank page
Stretched out before you?

When should you stretch your fingertips
To reach up for the edge of your rut
And pull yourself out?


Now is good.

Unfortunately knowing when is not the only part. The how is often the hardest bit.
