Looking out over Lake Manapouri
We set off from Queenstown for two nights camping in Manapouri which would be our set off point for a days kayaking on Doubtful Sound.
On the way to Manapouri we stopped off in Te Anau to see the glowworm caves. Our trip took us across Lake Te Anau and into the limestone caves full of underground waterfalls and whirlpools with torrents of water gushing through them caused by the heavy rain we've had in the last couple of days. We got into a small boat in the pitch black and drifted through a chamber full of glowworms, it was very beautiful!
We soon got our tent set up, complete with new poles, in Manapouri and headed down to the Lake to catch the sun set behind the mountains. It was absolutely silent.
