Snails and Shongololos
Just look what arrived with the rain! I HAD to Blip these beautiful creatures on the pathway. After the recent rain I noticed lots of millipedes crawling around the garden. I decided to see how they would photograph and spotted the two snails. Together they made an interesting Blip.
As a little girl I loved collecting these worms and would store them in my mother's old cameo cigarette boxes. After putting holes in the lid of course. Then I would pick little flowers and make a pretty garden for them. We called them shongololos and I have always loved that word. It is derived from a Zulu word which means "roll up" because when you touch a millipede it curls into a ball and plays dead.
When we left for school this morning there was a fine drizzle. So refreshing to feel against your face. The rain soon cleared and we went about our business. After school Mr G met us and we did some shopping before going home. Not long after we arrived home the heavens opened up again and it is still bucketing down now!
I left school a little earlier today but will have to work after supper tonight to keep up. Luckily we bought some takeaways from Fish & Chips and I won't have to cook tonight!
