Chilli con peanuts

I have got some news for The Royal Society of Birds.

They claim on their web-site that squirrels hate chilli powder and the most environmental friendly and natural way to deter them is to cover the bird food with chilli powder.


Well, it DOES NOT work!

Here's the proof?.

This is one of half a dozen squirrels in our garden tucking into our bird food undeterred by lavish helpings of chilli powder and even chilli flakes.

As for the bird- table my husband believed naively that by putting it in the middle of a giant berberis bush that this would deter the squirrels. No chance.


If anyone has a humane solution to the squirrel problem I would love to hear it.
