Spot the Heron

Very foggy day today. Visibility was so poor we almost didn't leave the house when we meant to. But driving at 10 miles an hour with our heads out of the windows seemed to keep us safe, and we made it to the MBH in one piece.

Much work today, though no word from our electrician on whether he had managed to work any magic with ERDF on getting our supply connected quicker. The plumber was there today and I managed to pigeon-hole him early and get him to get his boss to actually give us a quote for the work that the plumber was starting today. Sigh. The quote had been requested three months ago.

So, we nearly have a proper water supply connected into the utility room - from where all pipes leave around the building. Though the plumber was muttering dark threats and looking quite glum when he left, so who knows what tomorrow will bring. But at least the weekend is looking decided less stressful with our lovely friends in Castres foolishly offering to have our kids over for the weekend. Hurrah.

And speaking of lovely friends, we are raising a glass (like we need an excuse) to celebrate the birthday of a friend in London - happy birthday Chris. His card may be a little late... but I'm sure he'll read this at some point so know we haven't completely forgotten.

Oh, and this is a heron in a field near Katherine's riding school. It had just been chased there by two crows, who I think were just having a laugh and taunting the big clumsy bird. Reminded me of MrSmith's spot the heron competitions a while ago. Katherine seemed to have fun riding, and was allowed to have the biggest pony this week, instead of comically having her long skinny legs dangling nearly to the floor either side of a Shetland pony. Conor's football was, much to his delight, on this week though he was disappointed that our moving house means he can't play in the match on Saturday - it's in the town where he broke his wrist too...

All in all, a fairly positive day.
