Busy day

This was the second of three press calls today. The first was on the Royal Mile, where Edinburgh World Heritage were moving in to recently renovated office space in a 17th century building. The second was here, at the McEwan Hall in Bristo Square, where Edinburgh University honoured violinist Nicola Benedetti. I had turned up thinking I would only see chef Martin Wishart get his honorary degree, but Nicola was also there at the same photocall, even although she was getting her degree (an honorary doctorate of music) later in the day. Third assignment was back down the Royal Mile for a student demo against RUK fees at Scottish universities. Ended up walking some of the war with the march as it was the same direction as my way home. While I was working on the pictures back at home there was an almighty crash from another room. Turned out the corner of the ceiling had come down in the front room. Seeing the size and weight of the pieces, it was very lucky neither of us were in the room at the time! Someone coming to look at it later in the week so we can see what it will cost to repair it and whether insurance will cover it. We have a suspicion it won't :-(
