Young Winter Grebe
Final holiday back-blip. Took a long walk with Debi and Andrew at Fleet Ponds. Good collection of wildlife - apart from the usual birds (robin, blackbird, blue/great tit, chaffinch, mallard, coot, moorhen, mute swan, canada goose, cormorant, magpies and other assorted black corvids) we had a goldcrest (that got me excited, don't see them up here), long-tailed tits, a heron in a tree 12 feet away, some unidentified ducks (no binoculars with me), two jays, a massive flock of what I think were linnets (that binolcular problem again), and at least 8 great crested grebes, including this young one - full-sized head and beak, miniature body!
