last night I took a few photos at a performance in Fremantle by "DIVALICIOUS".... "a feast of operatic, musical theatre and popular songs by sopranos Penny Shaw and Fiona Cooper Smyth with special guest singer from WA Opera, Robert Hofmann, accompanied by perfection on piano, David Wickham". Shooting an energetic performance like Divaliciouss a challenge. With a Nikon D300, 80-200 and 300mm lenses, low light, exposures as slow as 1/4sec, ISO 400 to preserve detail in the pretty frocks and from the back of the Town Hall I was surprised how many reasonable photos emerged.

This was just a set up shot before the show and the detail was barely visible in the image it was so dark. Just for fun I played about with it in Capture NX2 and out of the poor quality, the noise and lack of colour emerged something that I feel is rather painterly and moody.

Fortunately the rest, the keepers at least, are usable.
