New Plan for Music Education
As a child of the Thatcher years I hardly touched a musical instrument. I learnt a bit of recorder and that was it. In year ten I was picked for singing lessons and did a few terms. The music was all operatic and I discovered boys so that fell by the wayside. By then it all came a little late.
As it is though music has always been a huge huge parts of my life. I started Am Dram when I was about 20. Did shows on and off until 2009. Then I walked into a barbershop chorus and the rest is history. I now run two singing clubs, do singing lessons, singing and music sessions for early years etc etc.
I am starting a Masters in Music in January and it's all looking good.
This new report pleases me and the government have really surprised me. I detest the Tories but for once they have made me smile, things could have been a lot lot worse.
My daughter plays the Cello, is joining an Orchestra next year and had a year of Trumpet tuition. All through school! I am glad that funding is being ring-fenced.
This section is my favourite bit and I agree with it wholeheartedly.
