Straße des 17. Juni

Today I went to the Siegessäule for a class project. After paying the Euro and a half and climbing the 265 steps to the top, I was rewarded with this great view. The street int he picture is Straße des 17. Juni (June 17th St.) It is named in Memorial to the victims of the Uprising of 1953. I didn't even realize it at the time, but I was there on June 17th. I guess in some way, this is my own tribute to June 17th.

Day 2 of Suni's visit was a good one. We went to the Turkish Market and then had a cookout at night. It's really fun having her around, and it's made even better that it was a surprise. I'm still not sure when she's staying until, but it's looking like about a week.
