Past Railway Empires

St Pancras Station side wall, London

This is the east wall of St Pancras station showing the magnificent 1868 brick-work of the side buildings.

The design was by George Gilbert Scott in Gothic Revival style for the Midland Railway. The Midland Grand Hotel, recently refurbished at the front on Euston Road is more frequently photographed. However the side brick-work is impressive both in its design and attractiveness, and also the craftsmanship with which it has been executed.
