Top Day

Up early this morning and off to "Top Gear Live" at London's Excel Exhibition Centre ( we are staying at the Crowne Plaza which is approximately 2 minutes walk from Excel miles from anywhere else though!) at Royal Victoria Dock.

What a great show .... started off with "Track Events" presented by Tiff Nedell and some other random motoring programme presenters from channel 5 I think .. they had actually set out a proper indoor track in one of the huuuuuge exhibition halls and had races between various cars, old, new, rally cars, GoKarts driven by F1 drivers' children (James Hunt's son won the race we saw) and lots of other stuff.

After that ( hour and a half ) we then all piled into the other huuuuuge exhibition hall that was set up as an arena and enjoyed another hour or so of Hammond, May and Clarkson presenting the "Top Gear Alternative to the Olympics" ..... curling with cars instead of curling stones anyone? .... hurdling cars instead of hurdles? And you should have seen the "alternative" opening ceromony which included a miniature bus, a taxi and Beefeater Stunt Cyclists.

If that wasn't enough excitement for the day we decided to traipse into the West End to see if we could get tickets for Rock of Ages ... managed to get standing tickets (who knew???) in the back balcony very, very, very high up but an excellent view of the stage and lots of room for having a wee dance along to the music ... excellent value at £15 each.

Justin Lee Collins and Shane Ward were fab!
