Backs

There are still some areas in Preston that still have cobbles. When I lives in deepdale the area behind the terrace of houses was called the backs. The backs were all cobbled and in summer you could pop the bubbles in the tar between the cobbles. This usually resulted in being in trouble for getting tar on hands and clothes as it was difficult to get off. I must be getting old, simple pleasures!
