Candlesnuff fungus

A distinctive and delightfully named little black and white fungus. The Latin name is also distinctive - Xylaria hypoxylon. It is also said to look like miniature antlers.

It is hard to the touch, and listed as "inedible". It's not as though I had any thoughts to the contrary.
