Crafty Children
We went to the Winter Fair at Builth Wells today. There was plenty to see so we were there by 8.30 a.m. and left around 5.00 p.m. ish.
Over the course of two days nearly 1300 entries of cattle, sheep and pigs will line up for judging as they compete for the leading prizes at the two-day Royal Welsh Winter Fair on the showground at Llanelwedd, Builth Wells.
The Fair, with about 300 stands, a major poultry show which takes place tomorrow (Tuesday), a produce and handicrafts show, floral art displays, antiques and avenues of shops selling Christmas gifts, is one of the most popular attractions in Wales.
Some of the UK's top livestock producers will be competing for the leading prizes and a highlight of the Fair will be the sale of stock on the second day of the event when a buoyant trade is anticipated.
The Fair was officially opened this morning by Mr Moss Jones of the Welsh Agricultural Organisation Society who has spent over 30 years working for the benefit of agricultural cooperatives and farmer-owned businesses in Wales.
So why Crafty Children? One of the categories for the youngsters to compete in was entitiled a Christmas Puppet. This one didn't get first, but came second, however, it was my favourite. Children can be so talented and its so lovely to see them getting involved too, dont you think?
