turkey wins!

an incredible game. if you didn't watch it, watch the replays online or something. a 0-0 game, then croatia scores in the 119th minute, and then turkey scores in the 122nd minute, and it all comes down to the shoot-out.

it was a ridiculous scene in kreuzberg afterwards. a parade of cars, all with turkish (and some german) flags, honked their horns loudly as they drove in circles. there were even a few trucks. unlike the german celebration, which seems to be a bunch of drunken fans from the ages 18-35, for this one entire turkish families took to the streets, dancing and celebrating. i got a few good pictures of small children waving flags, and one falling asleep with his flag during the commotion. i settled on this one in the end.

one thing that always amazes me is how muslim women manage to stay so covered up in places where the culture (and the fashion) leans towards showing some skin. i sort of admire how they manage to stay relatively fashionable but still keep to the tenets of their religion

.. small rant over. i'm really excited for the germany v turkey game on wednesday!! no matter what happens, the city will go wild. i wouldn't be surprised if the game caused the city to burn to the ground.
