Y'see, Civilisation is built of it's public services.

Transport. Education. Health. Emergency Services.

You need to get these jobs done right. You need good people doing them. You can't afford to have to do them twice, or wrong.

That means you look after those good people.

The strike today was not to do with pensions [argue amongst yourselves whether our pensions are too good!] it was to do with erosion of the services that we, as citizens, depend on to be there when we want them.
