Hakataramea Bridge

This old timer was build in 1882 and originally was a rail bridge then became a road bridge only. It straddles over the mighty Waitaki River and further upstream has 3 power stations which in turn has created some beautiful lakes for fishing and recreation. More recently, and mainly this year there have been some problems with piles, two needed repairs urgently...... here is Doug & a colleague inspecting the welding etc. This bridge over the years have caused Doug many a headache!!!

It was a beautiful day so decided to go for the drive with him.

1st December today, first day of summer and the weather gods got it totally right.

I am off out to my Book Club end of year dinner in less than an hour ..... going to Little India.....good company, good food, and a drink or two will make for a great night.

I bought a new bike this morning, 24 gears instead of the 7 gears I have on the current one, should help with the hill biking.
