God ! give me strength!
What a day! Up at the back of 7, off down the road to Glasgow with #2 daughter in tow (she was going Christmas shopping and blagged a lift)
First change of plan was at Inveraray when cops said there was a landslide on the Rest & Be Thankful! What!!!! They have just spent gazillions putting some sort of glorified hair net round a big rock and finally taken away the bloody traffic lights that used to scare the bejeezus out of me should there be a landslide and there you are STOPPED! Also they have these stupid flashing lights to warn you of imminent falling of mountain on top of you and does anyone stop??? Well NO, we just horse on (unless you are a visitor and terrified of a Scottish mountain squishing you but then I dont see them turning back either. Why the heck don't they open the old road it was far better than this slope or build a tunnel like the Swiss who have been building tunnels through mountains for the past 40 years! And no I did not want to go via Dall flaming mally and that pothole ridden bit of A82 between Cri and lanrynx to Tarbert! So I asked said bored lady cop "can I go via Dunoon" and what did she say? "oh yes , we never thought of that!"
Second stop was at Strachur to do a hasty radio interview for Radio nan Gaidhael about sheds would you believe.! How the Hell do I let myself be talked into this nonsense? The conversation was around some blokes suggesting there should be a mens union for garden sheds and being the only wuman on the prog I didnt agree andyhows were are a family of equality if nothing elses....we have a shed each. Then hotfotted it over the sea to where ever it is the ferry stops (with a bump!) and hared down to Paisley Toon Hall for my first meeting with some female who had made her mind up I wasnt sophisticated enough to really bother listening to my grand plan of world domination!
By this time #2 daughter had deserted me to let the train take the strain to get on with her Crimbo shopping so as I had a few minutes to spare. I went into Paisley Abbey as I had never been there before and what a grand wee abbey it is and steeped in history , reccomend you lot go there for a snap or two.
Sped up the road to Glasgow and had a quick blether with #1 son then back down the bloody road to Dunoon again for yet another pow wow . At no point since about 6pm last night had I so much as a cup of tea and with my tounge hanging out I thought yes I will grab a cuppa so in anticipation of that I had stopped at a bakery and bought a nice wee munce pie. After the pow wow and with everyone gone bar a few stalewarts who I could see were needing to go home, I sadley declined the tea offer and left clutching my wilting pie and headed off for home. (you should all be saying aw at this point!)
Made it home at 7 and finally had my first and only cup of tea as by this time my hunger had left me. All in all a packed day so no wonder I was asking the big man to give me strength!
Have a good blip all
