The Day I....

The Day I Had An Out Of Body Experience

Two heads are better than one, but four are better than two. Fortunately I took this photo before the heads had their supper. The bench was not a pretty sight after.

In The News? I watched Jeremy Clarkson turn his plug for fast cars DVD into real car crash TV. Lots of furore about his crass comments concerning the strikers but forcing him into an empty apology is pretty pointless. We know his political views and we know he gets a buzz out of offending people. I subscribe to the view that at times you will offend people and you have every right to be offended too but so what? Be offended.

The other day I joked on Twitter about the teachers going on strike and guess what? Someone got offended. Now I have quite a few family and friends in teaching and I don't think they would be too offended by the joke but a perfect stranger read it on Twitter and decided to comment. They don't even follow me!

The point is that Clarkson is offensive. It's part of his stage act. Many shows have a bad guy and Top Gear wouldn't be the same without theirs. He made a joke, a bad one and a tasteless one but no-one with any sense would translate it literally but then again 5,000+ did. If something is offensive to me like Evangelist TV or Piers Morgan or cheese then I just switch over or politely decline.

If you are easily offended by jokes about teachers wanting negotiations then don't read the next bit since it contains my joke?

Teachers: We want proper negotiations. When do we want it? Not during the Christmas, Easter or Summer holidays or at half term or after 3.30

No apologies to my sister, niece, brother-in-law, Jon or Lee who I know are not that easily offended.
