London morning

This is the view from my hotel window this morning. The tube passing through is on its way to Wimbledon (District Line) and the hotel is not far from Kensington High Street Tube station. I loved the sun on the rather unattractive building opposite - and that tree that is defiantly clinging to Autumn.

I went to London for a concert at the Shepherd's Bush Empire last night. The star was

David Garrett

and he was performing for the last time during his Rock Symphonies tour.

He's a classically trained violinist, who has formed a rock band and become a huge success in Germany. His mother is a former American prima ballerina, and his father is German. In the UK, he's still perhaps best known as a classical performer, a child prodigy who was playing concertos with world famous orchestras at the age of 10. (He still does, but in Germany his fame as a rock-playing heart throb has rather taken over.)

Another David pic

He is well worth checking out - but not in a grotty venue like the Shepherd's Bush Empire where the sound system just wasnt up to it.

But it was a fabulous evening - and I was able to meet up with many friends from Germany, the UK and other places
