Bishop was out
Mrs P had been talking of going to an artist's studio in Tain but the weather has been very dreich with on/off rain so we settled for going to a Craft Fair in the Bishop's Palace in Inverness. An easy choice for me as if we'd gone to Tain I'd still have been dragged down here tomorrow. The building is the former residence of Inverness's bishop and to the left you can see a bit of the modern Eden Court - a theatre and cinema for trendies. Sometimes used for art shows. The old bishop's palace is now an attached part of it and it was here that the craft show was held. Mrs P. bought a necklace for her mother whose birthday is coming up and for Mrs P's Christmas I contributed towards a small picture in a much bigger frame. I was quite attracted to the frame (which I may well blip in future as I'm not gadding about much these days) which was made from the wood of a clinker built ship called the "Rival" which sailed out of Harris and once was known for the largest catch of herring. According to the craftswoman the boat was bought by a man who had a replica made but had the original broken up for making artistic bits and pieces. Refrained from saying that the price we paid should have bought the whole boat.
PS No sign of the bishop - so perhaps he has a grander house elsewhere although this one is just a hundred yards from his cathedral. Mrs P in left foreground with a (too small) bag for the "goodies".
