Another snapshot of Soviet Baku.
We live in an area of town which has yet to be beautified. It's coming - the marble kerbstones are invading and three blocks away a plain Soviet era block has had a new outer layer added - literally built about two feet away from the original walls, the old building is now hidden inside - and with Greek columns for added effect.
I quite like the old looking buildings - they have character - and it does seem a little pointless to encase them in a new skin so that anyone driving past sees a new building, but the inhabitants put up with months of construction work noise and dust for no real benefit.
