Within sight of France

You nearly got a rather hazy shot of the French coast which I took looking the other way from this spot. It's on the cliffs to the east of Dover castle, above the ferry port. If you can't read the text it commemorates the Royal Flying Corps contingent which flew from this spot to Amiens during August 1914 as part of the British Expeditionary Force. The plaque is on a simple granite pillar next to the road. Opposite it is another pillar with a plaque for the men of the Royal Artillery and the US Army who manned the anti-aircraft batteries around Dover during the period from 1939 - 1945.
